Philippine rebels in police custody
EDITORS PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS MATERIAL WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY 4:3<br/> <br />Police and government forces in southern Philippines have secured most of the villages from rebel control after nearly 10 days of clashes.<br/> <br />Last week, Muslim rebels stormed the port city of Zamboanga trying to derail a peace deal, holding several villagers hostage.<br/> <br />By Wednesday, officials said 96 rebels were in police custody.<br/> <br />The town's mayor said those responsible will face the full penalty of law.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) ZAMBOANGA CITY MAYOR ISABELLE CLIMACO SAYING:<br/> <br />"Charges shall be filed and justice will be gained for those whose lives were wasted in these atrocities. Let the perpetrators go to jail and never be allowed to come back to our city."<br/> <br />At least 107 people were killed in the fighting.<br/> <br />Another 109,000 have been displaced.<br/> <br />Flights are still suspended into and out of the region but officials expect partial service to be restored by Thursday.
